Mentzelia lindleyi "Blazing Star"

Spectacular & large (3), bright & silky yellow, 5-petaled star flowers are borne in Summer on this showy, native annual. In the late afternoon, the blooms open to reveal a large tuft of showy, prominent stamens & their SWEET SCENT. Native to dry, brushy banks in southwestern Alameda County & further south through our coast ranges and so, tolerates heat, drought, wind & low fertility. Also grows well in a pot or garden bed. Its height is variable, 1-3 tall. Hardy to USDA zone 7.
