Marrubium cylleneum

We received the seed for this extremely lovely aromatic horehound as Marrubium cylleneum, but the name is suspect as it's certainly a much prettier version than any other plants we've seen with the same name. Reliably perennial and needing NO SUMMER WATER, it makes a perfect edging or foreground plant for a dry garden and is especially useful for dressing up the woody lower branches of many drought tolerant shrubs. From 4 to 12 tall in part shade and about 12 across, its highly attractive and dense sage green quilted foliage draws you in with a sort of 3-D effect and the slender white edging of each individual leaf seem to make it stand out. Whorls of small lavender flowers appear in leaf axils in mid-Summer. Trouble free, it attracts lots of friendly and interesting bugs!
