Didleya pulverulenta "Chalk Liveforever"
Forming an elegant rosette of chalky white, succulent leaves to 2 across, this California native is the giant of the genus & makes a most excellent specimen plant for the rock garden, rock wall or container. In May thru July, it sends up a silvery white stalk topped by candelabra-like clusters of small, red flowers loved by hummingbirds. Provide Chalk Liveforever with good drainage & dry soil, though it does look best with an occasional (not overhead) Summer watering. Also, looks best in part shade in our hotter areas away from the coast. Long lived & increases by producing new rosettes. Very happy with neglect. Hardy to 20 degrees F. From the U.C. Botanical Garden Collection.
