Aristea majorAristea major

I am so excited about this plant, I can’t stand it! A South African member of the Iris family, it is very different than the more common Aristea ecklonii. 1” true blue flowers with yellow stamens form dense, crowded clusters near the top of 3’ to 4’ upright stalks. 8 or more stalks will appear at once! The foliage is tall and strappy like an Iris and makes a dense clump. More good stuff: It’s DROUGHT TOLERANT, DEER PROOF, SNAIL PROOF, TOUGH, VIGOROUS, EXTREMELY LONG-LIVED & EASY TO GROW! Average to rich soil is best. Cut back stalks after flowering. May reseed.
