Aristea major
I am so excited about this plant, I cant stand it! A South African member of the Iris family, it is very different than the more common Aristea ecklonii. 1 true blue flowers with yellow stamens form dense, crowded clusters near the top of 3 to 4 upright stalks. 8 or more stalks will appear at once! The foliage is tall and strappy like an Iris and makes a dense clump. More good stuff: Its DROUGHT TOLERANT, DEER PROOF, SNAIL PROOF, TOUGH, VIGOROUS, EXTREMELY LONG-LIVED & EASY TO GROW! Average to rich soil is best. Cut back stalks after flowering. May reseed.
