This little local provides months of color in the Spring, Summer and even the Fall! Short in stature, this long lived annual can be found growing in sandy dunes along much of California’s coastline and sometimes inland. Survives well in regular garden soil, too and puts on a long show of thimble sized flower clusters in a vivid cornflower blue over ferny green leaves. An excellent plant for the front of the border and lovely naturalized in a rock garden setting. Just 6” high and wide, Gilia capitata chamissonis is also just the right size to put in a small pot. Adapts to many soil types, but prefers good drainage.
