VERY popular as a street tree or large shrub in Australia, gorgeous "Lemon Flowered Mallee" explodes into a stunning display of long-lasting, bright lemon yellow bloom, from late Winter to Summer. Small to medium in size, reaching 15'-20', its weeping branches & red stems hold attractive 7" smoky-silver, leathery lance-shaped evergreen, menthol scented leaves. Displayed in large clusters, each fluff-ball bloom is a good 2" across (!) & these are followed by fantastic, frosty grey, nipple-shaped seed pods which are quite nice in dried arrangements. VERY DROUGHT TOLERANT, fast growing & carefree - it even tolerates moderate frost - just provide decent drainage. To maintain as a shrub, prune back in its second year by 1/3, then again every year thereafter. Total bee magnet!
