ASSISTANT PROPAGATION & PRODUCTION MANAGER
Annie’s is seeking an efficient, detail-oriented, responsible and plant savvy team player to fill the role of full time Assistant Propagation Manager. This position will assist in plant production, inventory control and mother stock maintenance.
Duties:
Learn all nursery plants and their growth requirements.
Walk the yard weekly to take a count of plants, and allocate numbers to our three sales channels: Mailorder, Retail and Wholesale.
Maintaining and updating databases for both seed and cuttings schedules.
Help manage production planning and projections.
Monitor production schedules from beginning to end and review success of weekly goals. Adjust crop production in real time.
Oversee inventory mother stock for seeds and cuttings, assuring we have appropriate quantities for production needs.
Monitor plant health and become adept at diagnosing/identifying plant nutrient deficiencies and problems such as diseases, weeds, and pests. Report problems to appropriate staff.
Gain knowledge of fertilizer and pesticides schedules.
Requirements:
Horticulture degree preferred or 2 years experience in propagation/horticulture industry.
Must have excellent computer skills, with a solid knowledge of Excel.
Knowledge of Microsoft Access or equivalent database preferred.
Must be able to learn a vast number of plants and their requirements.
Must have an excellent work ethic and a can-do positive attitude.
Must be able to work independently and communicate clearly and pleasantly with co-workers.
Flexibility to work indoors and outdoors in all weather.
Must be punctual and have reliable transportation.
Must be able to assist in developing methods and procedures in our growing company.
Experience managing nursery staff preferred.
